John MacArthur's False Teaching That Those Who Take the Mark of the Beast Can Still Be Redeemed

John MacArthur is seen as a leading bible expositor and Christian author, However, numerous concerns have been raised about his ministry (please visit http://www.thewatchmanwakes.com/index.html ).

Of particular concern is MacArthur's perspective concerning the mark of the beast. The bible makes it clear that "If anyone worships the beast and its image and receives its mark on their forehead or on their hand, they, too, will drink the wine of God’s fury, which has been poured full strength into the cup of his wrath. They will be tormented with burning sulfur in the presence of the holy angels and of the Lamb. And the smoke of their torment will rise for ever and ever. There will be no rest day or night for those who worship the beast and its image, or for anyone who receives the mark of its name" (Revelation 14:9-11).

It seems however that during a Question & Answer forum at John Macarthur’s church (please listen to Youtube video below), to the question of whether there is any possibility of redemption once a person takes the mark of the beast, MacArthur’s response was an affirmative “yes”.

“Otherwise there would be no salvation of anybody in the end of the Tribulation, and you’ve got to have the salvation of folks in the end of the Tribulation,” he argued.

MacArthur added: “I don’t think the fact that someone takes that [the mark of the beast] is a sentence permanency any more than you being a part of this world system once in your life means you have to be a part of the system all your life.”

Consistent with the comments above, in John MacArthur’s bible teaching website, Grace to You, on the topic of the mark of the beast, there is no mention whatsoever of the eternal consequences for an individual to acept the mark of the beast.
